Rainbow Puto Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups all- purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 egg, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 & 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup cheddar cheese, sliced (for topping)
  • liquid food coloring, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple

HOW TO COOK:

  1. Prepare muffin pans or individual puto molds by greasing them with oil.
  2. Prepare and set up a steamer also.
  3. Sift- in the flour, sugar, and baking powder together in a mixing bowl.
  4. Whisk together until combined.
  5. Add- in the butter, evaporated milk, egg, and water then mix well until combined.
  6. Divide batter into 6 small bowls.
  7. Place 3 to 4 drops of different liquid food colorings into each bowl and mix until combined (1 bowl, 1 color).
  8. Place 1/2 tablespoon of each colored puto mixture into the greased muffin pans or individual molds until just about full.
  9. Add the cheese slices in the middle.
  10. Heat your steamer and arrange the molds inside.
  11. Place the cover on and cook for 15 minutes.
  12. Remove from steamer, let them stand for 5 minutes, then remove from molds. Enjoy!
