Pork Pochero Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 lb pork belly, sliced into serving pieces
  • 2 pcs chorizo, sliced crosswise
  • 4 pcs saba banana, halved
  • 2 bunches bok choy (or pechay), cut lower end
  • 8 oz green beans
  • 1 large potato, cut into cubes
  • 1 large tomato
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed and minced
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 6 to 7 cups water
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 pork cubes
  • Salt and ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3 tbsp cooking oil

HOW TO COOK:

  1. Pour and heat the cooking oil in a pot.
  2. Sauté the garlic, onion, and tomato.
  3. Once the onion becomes tender, add the pork belly and chorizo.
  4. Continue to cook for 3 minutes or until the pork belly browns.
  5. Pour the tomato sauce and water and let it boil.
  6. Add the pork cubes and stir.
  7. Cover the pot and set the heat to low.
  8. Boil for 50 minutes.
  9. Add the banana and potato.
  10. Cover and continue to cook in medium heat for 12 minutes.
  11. Add the green beans and bok choy.
  12. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes.
  13. Add salt and ground black pepper to taste.
  14. Transfer to serving plate and serve hot. Enjoy!
