Pork Loin Asado Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 kg pork loin
  • 3 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 2 to 3 cups water
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 7 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp five spice powder
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar (add more for a sweeter sauce)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil

HOW TO COOK:

  1. First, season the pork loin with salt and black pepper.
  2. Pour and heat the cooking oil in a heavy pan.
  3. Once the oil gets hot enough, sear the pork loin on all sides until a light layer of golden crisp forms around the sides. Set aside.
  4. Combine the vinegar, water, oyster sauce, soy sauce, five spice powder, and the brown sugar in a bowl.
  5. Mix the ingredients together until the brown sugar is dissolved.
  6. In the pan with the seared pork loin, pour over the soy sauce mixture.
  7. Heat and let it boil.
  8. Once boiling, lower the heat and let it simmer (add more water if needed).
  9. Flip the pork loin on the other side and cook until completely tender.
  10. Remove the pork loin from the pot and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  11. Mix cornstarch with a little water then add- in and mix to thicken the sauce
  12. Slice the pork thinly and pour over the sauce. Serve and enjoy!
