INGREDIENTS:
- 1 kg pork loin
- 3 tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 2 to 3 cups water
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 7 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp five spice powder
- 3 tbsp brown sugar (add more for a sweeter sauce)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
HOW TO COOK:
- First, season the pork loin with salt and black pepper.
- Pour and heat the cooking oil in a heavy pan.
- Once the oil gets hot enough, sear the pork loin on all sides until a light layer of golden crisp forms around the sides. Set aside.
- Combine the vinegar, water, oyster sauce, soy sauce, five spice powder, and the brown sugar in a bowl.
- Mix the ingredients together until the brown sugar is dissolved.
- In the pan with the seared pork loin, pour over the soy sauce mixture.
- Heat and let it boil.
- Once boiling, lower the heat and let it simmer (add more water if needed).
- Flip the pork loin on the other side and cook until completely tender.
- Remove the pork loin from the pot and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Mix cornstarch with a little water then add- in and mix to thicken the sauce
- Slice the pork thinly and pour over the sauce. Serve and enjoy!
