Pinaso Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup saltine crackers (Sky Flakes or Magic Flakes), finely crushed
  • 2 cups milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 dayap rind, grated
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

HOW TO COOK:

  1. In a sauce pan, combine together the crackers, milk, and eggs.
  2. Cook until the mixture becomes thick.
  3. Add the dayap rind and 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar then stir.
  4. Pour mixture into a shallow dish.
  5. Sprinkle top with the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar.
  6. Heat up a steel turner (siyenseng bakal) until it is very (flaming) hot.
  7. Use the steel turner to scorch the surface of the cake until the sugar topping turns into a deep amber caramel.
  8. Cut and serve. Enjoy!
