Summer season in the Philippines can get really hot! No wonder we try to find countless solutions just to beat the heat. We try to go to resorts and to cooler places like Baguio and Tagaytay, or sometimes, even the malls would do.
But of course, the easiest way would be the good ‘ol Pinoy pampalamig delicacies. We have all sorts of delicacies available and one of the most popular and the easiest to make are Ice Candies. We have created quite a number of flavors already, being the resourceful people we are. And one unique flavor we found is the Mais Con Queso Ice Candy.
It’s basically a mix of sweet corn and cheese blended into a milky goodness. But hey, who would have thought of this flavor, right? Chances are, it is your first time to hear about it. So go ahead and try making one today!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 can (14.75 oz) cream style sweet corn
- 2 cups mild cheddar cheese (or gouda cheese), shredded
- 3 cups fresh milk
- 1 can (14 oz) condensed milk
- 1 cup heavy cream (you can also use Nestle cream)
- ½ cup sugar
HOW TO MAKE:
- Combine fresh milk, condensed milk, heavy cream, corn, shredded cheese, and sugar in a large bowl.
- Stir until sugar is dissolved.
- Pour mixture into ice candy plastic bags up to ¾ full leaving about 3 inches of plastic using a funnel (you may use a thin stick to push down any cheese or corn that may block the funnel).
- Twist the remaining three inches of plastic until the plastic bag is firm and tie into a knot.
- Arrange filled plastic bags in a single layer on a flat dish and freeze for about 2 to 3 hours or until frozen. Enjoy!
