INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cups all- purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar
- cinnamon- sugar mixture (combine 1/4 cup sugar & 2 tbsp ground cinnamon), for dusting
- cooking oil, for frying
HOW TO COOK:
- In a mixing bowl, sift and mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and salt).
- In a separate bowl, add- in the egg and the milk and whisk well together
- Gradually stir in the dry ingredients mixture, then beat in the melted buter to make a soft dough.
- Heat a wok or deep fryer and pour oil (about 1 inch deep) and heat the oil for about 1 minute.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured board and knead until it is smooth and elastic.
- Shape the dough to make a log then pinch off golf- ball sizes, flatten with your hands into disks.
- Poke a hole through the center of each disk using floured handle of wooden spoon.
- Fry in batches, until they are puffy and golden brown on both sides.
- Lift out with slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with cinnamon- sugar mixture, confectioner’s sugar or maple syrup. Enjoy!
