Binagol Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • ¾ cup raw gabi, shredded
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • ½ can full cream condensed milk
  • 4 egg yolks
  • ¾ cup brown sugar

Packaging:

  • 4 pcs clean coconut shells (about 4 & ½ inches diameter and 2 inches high)
  • Wilted banana leaves
  • String, for tying

HOW TO COOK:

  1. Combine shredded gabi, coconut milk, and brown sugar in a sauce pan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, while constantly stirring, for 6 minutes.
  3. Lower the heat and continue cooking for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the condensed milk and cook over low heat 20 minutes longer while stirring constantly.
  5. Fill each coconut shell with mixture.
  6. Make a well in center and drop a raw egg yolk.
  7. Cover top with tuber mixture and spread until smooth, very close to brim or shell.
  8. Cover whole shell with two layers banana leaves and tie securely with strings.
  9. Steam for half an hour.
  10. Remove from steamer, slice, and serve! Enjoy!
