Pancake or hotcake is a popular breakfast food all over the world. But here in the Philippines, it is also a popular food for snack or merienda. We also have our very own twist to it– the Pinoy-Style Hotcake.
You’ll notice that the color is more yellow than usual (see ingredients to find out how). And the main source of flavor would be margarine and sugar instead of the usual butter and syrup. If you miss this food or you haven’t tried it, make one today! Just follow the easy recipe here:
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 6 tbsp white sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 235 ml fresh milk
- 1 pc egg
- 1 dash yellow food color
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
- Margarine ,for topping
- White sugar, for topping
HOW TO COOK:

Mix together beaten egg and milk in a mixing bowl.

Then add flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and stir.

Add cooking oil and a dash of yellow food color then stir until the batter is smooth.

Heat cooking oil in a pan over low fire.

Pour in 1 ladle of batter into the pan. Flip when the surface starts to bubble.

Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes.

Repeat doing this until you finish all the batter.

Spread the margarine on top and sprinkle with sugar while the hotcake is still hot.
