Balisungsong Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 cups white rice
  • 5 cups water (or enough water to immerse the rice)
  • 15 pcs banana leaves, cut into 6 inches wide

HOW TO COOK:

  1. Start by washing the rice 2 to 3 times in a bowl (or until the water runs clear).
  2. Fold the banana leaves to form a cone shape.
  3. Add the rice to fill half of each cone, then fold the end.
  4. Arrange the wrapped rice in banana leaves in a pot.
  5. Put water and make sure all wrapped rice are submerged in water.
  6. Cover the pot and put in the stove over high heat until it boils.
  7. Let it simmer over low heat until the rice is cooked.
  8. Remove from heat, peel off the banana leaves when ready to eat.
  9. Serve with your favorite dish. Enjoy!
