INGREDIENTS:
- 3 lbs pork pata, sliced into 3 to 4 pieces
- 1.6 oz dried banana blossoms
- 5 pcs dried bay leaves
- ¼ cup Knorr liquid seasoning
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 4 tbsp vinegar
- 10 cups water
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 3 tsp whole peppercorn
- Salt, to taste
- 3 tbsp cooking oil
HOW TO COOK:
- Pour- in 7 cups of the water in a cooking pot then heat and boil.
- Once the water starts to boil, add- in the pork pata into the pot.
- Cover and then boil for 20 minutes.
- Remove the boiled pork hocks from the pot and discard the water.
- Pour and heat the oil in the same cooking pot.
- Once the oil is hot enough, saute the garlic and onion.
- Add- in the boiled pork pata back as soon as the onion starts to get soft.
- Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Pour- in the soy sauce, Knorr liquid seasoning, and the remaining 3 cups water.
- Add- in the whole peppercorns and dried bay leaves.
- Let it boil.
- Cover and cook the pork in low to medium heat until it gets tender, around 40 to 60 minutes (turn the pork pata over to cook the opposite side and add more water, if needed).
- Pour- in the vinegar in the cooking pot and let the liquid re-boil.
- Stir and then add the brown sugar and banana blossoms.
- Taste and add salt if needed.
- Cover and cook for 8 more minutes.
- Remove from heat and transfer to a serving bowl. Enjoy!
