Easy Pata Hamonado Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 pc pork pata or pork hock
  • 2 cups pineapple chunks
  • 3 cups pineapple juice
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 pc white onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 pcs dried bay leaves
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp peppercorns
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil

HOW TO COOK:

  1. Pour and heat the cooking oil in a deep cooking pot.
  2. When the oil is hot enough, sauté the onion and garlic until onion becomes translucent.
  3. Add- in the peppercorns.
  4. Add- in the pork pata and cook on all sides for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour- in pineapple juice and water then let it boil.
  6. Add- in the soy sauce and bay leaves.
  7. Cover and simmer for 60 to 90 minutes until very tender (add water if necessary).
  8. Stir in the brown sugar, salt, and pineapple chunks.
  9. Simmer until sauce thickens.
  10. Remove from heat and transfer to a serving plate. Enjoy!
