Chocnut Turon Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 12 pcs Chocnut
  • 6 pcs saba bananas (plantain), sliced lengthwise
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp water
  • lumpia wrappers
  • Sesame seeds, for topping (optional)

HOW TO COOK:

  1. Put the 12 pcs Chocnut in a small bowl.
  2. Using a fork, mash the Chocnuts until powdery.
  3. Slowly add 4 tablespoons water and mix to form a paste. Set aside.
  4. Place a lumpia wrapper on a flat surface.
  5. Place 1 saba half in the center of the lumpia wrapper.
  6. Add 1 tablespoon Chocnut paste on top.
  7. Fold the sides of the wrapper in and roll tightly to form the turon.
  8. Dab the edges of the wrapper with water to seal.
  9. Repeat the process to make 12 rolls.
  10. Heat 2 cups oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  11. Carefully add turon pieces, then sprinkle 1 cup brown sugar on top.
  12. Flip the rolls to coat in melted sugar.
  13. Once turon turns golden brown, remove from heat and place on a rack to drain.
  14. Let cool for a few minutes to allow sugar coating to harden.
  15. Sprinkle with sesame seeds (optional). Enjoy!
