Easy Caramelized Pilipit Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 5 cups brown sugar
  • Cooking oil (for deep frying)

HOW TO COOK:

  1. In a bowl, mix and sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Beat egg the add the milk.
  3. Pour this egg-milk mixture into sifted flour.
  4. Knead until smooth, then divide into several portions.
  5. Roll each portion on bread board into strips 4 inches long,
  6. Twist the strip to bring the ends together ( or make an ”8″ shape, if desired).
  7. Fry in hot oil until brown. Drain and dip in caramel syrup.

For the Caramel Syrup:

  1. To make syrup, put brown sugar and a little water in a saucepan.
  2. Caramelize over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved.
