Crispy Oven Broiled Liempo Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 lbs pork belly (liempo)
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 & ½ tbsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper

HOW TO COOK:

  1. Pour the water in a steamer and bring to a boil.
  2. Arrange the pork belly in the steamer, cover and steam for 40 minutes (add more water if needed).
  3. Remove the pork belly from the steamer and place in a plate.
  4. Allow the pork belly to cool for a few minutes.
  5. Rub salt and pepper all over the steamed pork belly and let it stay for 15 minutes.
  6. Set the oven to broil mode and preheat to 510 F or 265 C.
  7. Arrange the pork belly in a greased oven safe tray or plate and broil for 15 to 17 minutes.
  8. Flip the pork belly so that the opposite side will be facing up.
  9. Continue to broil for another 12 to 15 minutes or until texture starts to get crispy.
  10. Chop the broiled pork belly to smaller pieces and serve. Enjoy!
