Chicken Siomai Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 lbs ground chicken
  • 2 tsp chicken powder
  • ¾ cup shrimp, minced
  • 1 cup minced white mushroom
  • 1 cup minced carrots
  • 1 large yellow onion, minced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup sesame oil
  • A pack of siomai wrappers
  • 4 to 6 cups water (for steaming)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for greasing)

HOW TO COOK:

  1. Combine the ground chicken, shrimp, mushroom, carrots, onion, chicken powder, ground black pepper, garlic powder, salt, sesame oil, and egg in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Mix the ingredients well using a spatula.
  3. Lay a piece of siomai wrapper in a plate.
  4. Scoop about a tablespoon of the mixture and place it in the center of the wrapper.
  5. Wrap the mixture by folding the sides until the mixture is enclosed.
  6. Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 until all the mixture is consumed.
  7. Pour the water in a steamer and bring it to a boil.
  8. Arrange the chicken siomai in the steamer.
  9. Grease the steamer using a cooking spray or by rubbing with olive oil to prevent the wrapper from sticking.
  10. Steam the chicken siomai for 15 to 25 minutes.
  11. Transfer to a serving plate and serve with your favorite dipping sauce and chili. Enjoy!
